Choosing 8mm SPC Flooring

Shop 8mm SPC flooring and compare wear layers, plank dimensions, locking systems and attached backing. Review how the stated thickness is measured, then choose a rigid-core floor that suits your layout and finished floor height.

Understand the stated 8mm thickness

An 8mm specification may describe the complete plank including backing. Check the product's breakdown before comparing it with another floor. Wear-layer thickness is measured separately and determines neither the core thickness nor the installed height by itself. Review all measurements together with the edge profile and locking system.

Check clearances and the subfloor

Measure door clearance, appliance openings and transitions to adjoining surfaces. Added floor height can affect dishwasher removal and stair details. A thicker plank still needs the subfloor flatness and moisture conditions required by its instructions. Confirm whether vapor protection is required and whether additional padding is allowed beneath attached backing.

Questions before ordering

Does 8mm SPC hide an uneven subfloor?

No. Thickness does not remove the need for substrate preparation. Uneven support can affect joints and movement, so follow the stated flatness limits.

Do all 8mm SPC floors have the same wear layer?

No. Overall thickness and wear-layer thickness describe different components. Compare both values on the exact product page.
