Before you install

Use this checklist with your product’s full installation guide.

  1. Check the flooring first.Confirm the product and color. Check for damage or visible defects before fitting any boards. If something looks wrong, stop and contact us.
  2. Check the room and the surface below.Your installer should check moisture, flatness, room temperature and humidity against the guide. Keep a record of the readings.
  3. Confirm the installation method.Floating, glue-down and nail-down floors have different needs. Follow the rules for acclimation, expansion space, stairs and fixed cabinets.
  4. Use the right materials.Check which adhesive, moisture barrier or underlayment is allowed. An attached pad does not mean extra cushioning is allowed.
  5. Keep your records.Save your receipt, carton labels, product code, lot numbers and installation records. Keep spare boards for future repairs.

Keep it looking its best

Everyday care, made simple

These are starting points. Use the full care guide for your exact floor and finish.

Lift away dirt

Sweep with a soft broom or use the hard-floor setting on your vacuum. Trapped grit can mark the surface.

Clean spills promptly

Wipe up spills and dry the area. Avoid soaking the floor or leaving water behind when cleaning.

Choose the right cleaner

Use a cleaner approved for your floor type. Hardwood, laminate and vinyl may need different products. Check the guide before trying a new cleaner.

Protect the finish

Use suitable furniture pads and non-staining mats. Lift furniture when moving it. Check your guide for rug backing and rolling-chair rules.

Can I use a steam mop?

Check your product’s care guide first. Lions Floor says not to use steam mops on its SPC, WPC, LVP, laminate or loose lay floors. Müller Graff also warns against steam mops on its hardwood and laminate. Do not assume a waterproof floor is safe for steam.

Do I need a vapor barrier or extra underlayment?

It depends on the flooring and the surface below it. A moisture barrier and a soft underlayment pad do different jobs. Check the manufacturer’s requirements for your product and subfloor before buying either.

Can my floor go in an unheated room or over radiant heat?

Approval and temperature limits vary by product. Check the exact guide before installation. Send us your product code and room details if you need help finding those limits.
