6mm SPC Flooring

6mm SPC flooring combines waterproof rigid-core construction with a substantial yet manageable finished profile.

Qualifying products may differ in wear layer, plank dimensions, attached backing, surface texture, edge treatment, locking system, and color.

What Is 6mm SPC Flooring?

Six-millimeter SPC flooring is rigid-core vinyl plank flooring with a verified total thickness of 6mm.

Its layered construction may include:

  • Protective surface coating
  • Transparent wear layer
  • Printed wood design
  • Dense SPC core
  • Stabilizing layers
  • Attached backing where specified

Confirm whether the published 6mm measurement includes the backing.

Is 6mm SPC Considered Thick?

Six-millimeter SPC is thicker than many 4.2mm and 5mm products while remaining lower profile than 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, and 14mm flooring.

The most appropriate thickness depends on:

  • Subfloor
  • Room
  • Finished-floor height
  • Attached backing
  • Core construction
  • Locking system
  • Door clearance
  • Adjacent flooring

Available Wear Layers

Six-millimeter SPC is available with different wear layers.

A 12 mil surface may suit ordinary residential environments, while 20 mil and thicker wear layers provide additional protective material for busier spaces.

Wear layer and total plank thickness should be compared separately.

Available Plank Sizes

Qualifying 6mm SPC may include:

  • 7x48 planks
  • 7x60 planks
  • 9x48 planks
  • 9x60 planks
  • Other verified dimensions

Standard four-foot planks provide defined board layouts. Wider or longer formats create broader wood visuals and fewer visible joints.

Is 6mm SPC Waterproof?

Every product in this collection must have verified waterproof SPC construction.

Waterproof planks support easier cleanup of ordinary spills and household messes. They do not waterproof the subfloor, walls, perimeter, or complete room.

Republic Floor EIR Texture

Republic Floor SPC products use EIR, or Embossed in Register, surface texture. The embossing aligns with the printed grain to create more realistic wood character.

Other manufacturers’ textures should be described according to their published specifications.

Can 6mm SPC Go Over Concrete?

Approved products may be installed over properly prepared concrete.

The slab should be:

  • Moisture tested
  • Flat
  • Clean
  • Structurally sound
  • Properly repaired
  • Used with specified vapor protection
