How Much Flooring Do I Need? Simple Measurement Guide (With Calculator Tips)

One of the biggest questions homeowners have is:

“How many boxes of flooring do I need?”

Here’s the easiest way to calculate it.

1. Measure Your Room

Use any tape measure and multiply:

Length × Width = Square Feet

Example:

15 ft × 12 ft = 180 sq ft

2. Add Waste Percentage

Different floors require different waste allowances:

  • Click LVP/SPC: +5%
  • WPC: +7%
  • Herringbone / Chevron: +10%

So for 180 sq ft of SPC:

180 × 1.05 = 189 sq ft needed

3. Divide by Sq Ft per Box

Every product on our site clearly shows the sq ft per box.

Example:

If a product has 23.89 sq ft per box:

189 ÷ 23.89 = 7.9 boxes → round up to 8

4. Use Our Automatic Calculator

On every product page at Caspar Flooring Direct:

  • Enter your sq ft
  • It instantly tells you boxes + total price

This prevents overordering and guarantees you get the right amount.
